Deploy Django HTTPS on a VPS | Nginx Gunicorn | Webdock

Setting up a secure Ubuntu server with https for a Django project is not easy but I successfully followed the instructions on : ? https://realpython.com/django-nginx-gunicorn/ and in this video I cover some of the specifics which I thought would be useful to help others. This is for an upcoming personal project so I am learning only the bits I need.

The tutorial is at time of writing this, 1 year old, but everything is still applicable and you can use the same config and steps to get your domain name and web server securely deployed. Note, the tutorial was for AWS, but you can use the same steps to set up your own VPS server, just alter the AWS specific parts.

Note, it helps if you already have a domain name and are able to point it at the public ip adress of the server. In my case I was able to change the DNS (held with ionos) 'A record' to point to my Webdock VPS server's IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

Note if you use Heroku free hosting for Python at present : "Heroku will end our free product plans for Heroku Dynos, Heroku PostgreSQL and Heroku Data for Redis on November 28,"
