This is the third video of the series on Learning to Program JAVA 17SE. In the previous videos, we installed the JAVA language to be able to have an environment to execute programs that we write and an IDE for writing the code with. In this video, we will be installing another tool that helps us to author or create code. Integrated Development Environment, IDE for short, provides an environment to run and execute code.
In this video, we will install the Eclipse IDE. Unlike the IntelliJ community edition, Eclipse is fully free and open-sourced. Eclipse is probably one of the oldest IDEs. We had Visual Studio as a heavyweight and had to mostly use notepad or something like that for all our coding needs. Eclipse was a game-changer then. Eclipse Foundation have many projects and the IDE is one of them. IF you remember, the Adopt Open JDK has moved to the Eclipse foundation.
We will be installing Eclipse IDE on our personal computers. I have used the Windows 11 platform, which is similar to the Windows 10 platform.
