Presenter’s Bio:

Dr. Jose Luis SANCHEZ-LOPEZ is a Research Scientist at the Interdisciplinary Center for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) of the University of Luxembourg (UL) since 2021, and having the right to supervise doctoral candidates. He is the head of the Aerial Robotics Lab, and the leader of the situational awareness research line and the ongoing mobile service robotics-related projects of the Automation and Robotics Research Group (ARG).

In his more than 12 years of experience (six since he obtained his PhD), he has worked on providing robots with essential capabilities to make them more autonomous and intelligent. His contributions are in three main areas: perception and situational awareness, intelligent and cognitive system architectures, and trajectory and path planning and control. All the outcomes of his research have always been experimentally validated in applied research and technology transfer projects, being the scientific results disseminated in more than 70 publications in renowned international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, with an impact of around 1900 citations (according to Google Scholar). He is an associate editor of four renowned international journals, international program committee of several international conferences and he is an expert evaluator of project proposals. He is also an EDA Non-Gubernamental Expert. On top of this, he is engaged in different teaching and supervision activities with the UL, and he often participates in outreach events, being the National Coordinator of the European Robotics Week.
