Depth Map Shadows:
Depth Map Shadows, also known as shadow maps, are a fast and efficient way to create shadows in Maya. This technique involves projecting shadows from objects onto a 2D texture called a depth map. The depth map stores information about the distance of objects from the light source. During rendering, Maya uses this depth map to determine which areas should be in shadow. Depth Map Shadows are relatively quick to calculate, making them suitable for real-time rendering or scenes with moving objects. However, they can sometimes produce artifacts like aliasing or "shadow acne" if the resolution of the depth map is too low or if there are intersecting objects.

Raytraced Shadows:
Raytraced Shadows, on the other hand, are a more realistic and accurate shadowing technique in Maya.
