How to Update Magisk to the Latest Canary Version

Some people need the latest Canary Magisk update to get the latest changes and in this video I show you how to update from the stable version.

Lately, when a new OTA update has been released by Google, people have tried the traditional method of updating while maintaining user data and root access. With Pixel phones, Google tends to release brand new changes and that sometimes conflicts with the current batch of mods.

This can result in bootloops until those changes are discovered and new fixes are implemented into those mods.

For the last two months, the developer of Magisk has had to push out a brand new version in order to adapt to those changes. These changes must first go out to people who are testing the Canary version of the app before they roll out to the beta channel. The developer has to wait a few days each time one of these changes gets put in the Canary or Beta build so they can collect any bug reports that may come in from early testing.

It's only after they monitor the log reports for a few days that they can feel confident enough to push out the new changes to the stable version of the app.

So lately, Google Pixel users have needed to install the Canary build of Magisk in order to install to the latest monthly security update successfully.

But in a comment to the channel recently, I received a request asking how to install this early build of Magisk.

See, we can go into the App Settings itself and switch from the stable build to the Beta build but we can't test out the latest version of the Canary update using this method.

Instead, we need to manually sideload that Canary build of Magisk and I'm going to show you how that is done right now.
