A Monstrous creature from beyond, or just another Creepypasta? This is the Rake Explained - Internet Urban Legends

What’s going down Mouse Nation and welcome back! Today we’re going to be talking about the hideous and disturbing creature known as the Rake!

Imagine this. A humanoid creature with pale grey skin. Sometimes all white. 6 good tall but crawls on all fours, similar to a spider. 2 huge black eyes that reflect light. No nose. A tiny mouth that when opens becomes large and shows hundreds of teeth. That's the rake!

now from most stories, the good news is that if you don’t approach the creepy cryptid, the rake will just stare at you from afar, but if you continue to move toward the rake cryptid or act threatening in anyway, The rake will widen his eyes and open his mouth then attack.

usually this cryptid, the rake can be found sitting at the foot of one’s bed, watching them, and often inducing nightmares before killing his victims.

Sightings of this creepy cryptic, the rake first began in the Northeastern part of the United states in as early as 2003. Many of these sightings garnered local media attention. but suddenly a blackout of information on this cryptid began. All information had been destroyed and wiped from all forms of media. In 2006 The Rake's legend had begun to spread with other accounts of the cryptid, with many internet minds putting together the pieces to find out what this creature truly was. Supposedly there were accounts as far back as the 12th century, with evidence of the rake's existence first documented in 1691 from a mariner’s log.

This log stated, - He came to me in my sleep. From he foot of my bed I felt a sensation. He took everything. We must return to England. We shall not return here again at the request of the Rake”

Then from a journal entry from 1880. that was originally in Spanish. “I have experienced the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. i see his eyes when I close mine. They are hollow. Black. They saw me and pierced me. his wet hand. I will not sleep. His voice….” with the rest of the text being just scribbles.

In 1964 a Suicide note was found, reading the following. “As I prepare to take my life, I feel it necessary to assuage any guilt or pain I have introduced through this act. It is not the fault of anyone other than him. For once I awoke and felt his presence. And once I awoke and saw his form. Once again I awoke and heard his voice, and looked into his eyes. I cannot sleep without fear of what I might next awake to experience. I cannot ever wake, Goodbye.”

But is there any truth this cryptid, the rake and it's existence.

Well the easy answer is no. The Rake actually originated through a collaborative effort on 4chan in 2005 in a thread called, Lets make a new monster.

The rake's features and purpose were revised multiple times before the cryptid was finally created.

From there many creepypasta stories were made and spread through out the internet along with videos, photos, and fan art.

Cryptid's like the rake have and will continue to be created on the internet, but keep in mind. That if enough people believe in a fictional monster, he may just come to life.
