Easy Violin Etudes | Wohlfahrt Op 45, #13 Tutorial | Expanding the Bow

This video is part 13 of a violin tutorial series covering Wohlfahrt, Op. 45 Book 1 violin etudes in which we discuss the violin technique challenges presented in etude #13. I discuss specific violin playing technical challenges in this violin etude, in particular, expanding the use of the bow to include the very tip and the frog of the bow. We also deal with issues of sustaining the bow, bow speed, and double-stops in this etude. I point out each challenge within the violin etude, then give suggestions on how to create a practice strategy so you can play and improve your skill easily. I also reveal hidden techniques and show you how to make what seems difficult, simple. Then, I play the entire etude for you!

Each video in this violin tutorial series gives you my detailed playing tips, especially focused on self taught violin learners and beginning violin players.

Wohlfahrt Op. 45 is a violin etude book which has violin pieces in first position to work on while you develop your violin playing ability. Use this video as a guide, so you can hear the etude and play it well in tune. Also so you can get tips on what to watch out for as you practice through different keys and violin techniques. It is a good supplement to your concert and recital pieces. I introduce Wohlfahrt Op. 45 after a student is pretty good at reading music in first position. The exercises are short and cover violin playing in various keys, styles and rhythms. It introduces time signatures and bowing variations, too.
