The Kyushu Maru in Bonegi 3 divesite is one of the many wrecks that lies in the waters of Guadalcanal. It is an 8,666 ton cargo vessel, 467 ft long and 62 ft wide. Together with other ships, the Kyushu Maru was attempting to land troops, weapons, supplies and ammunition when it was attacked and eventually sunk by US aircrafts on Oct 15, 1942. The Kyushu Maru lies in 7-47 meters of water and can be accessed through shore entry.
