Alexander Agricola (ca.1445-1506): Two pieces

Born in Ghent (Flanders), Alexander Agricola became a member of the Habsburg musical scene (Spain ruled over the low countries at the time), and by 1500, he had established an excellent reputation throughout Europe as a master composer. We know little about him, but it seems rather certain that he spent some time living in Italy and France, as well as Flanders. For example: from 1471 to 1474, he was a singer for Duke Galeazzo Maria Sforza in Milan. In 1474 he moved to Florence, where he remained for a year or two before returning to Flanders (Cambrai). After that, he spent some years in France; by then, courts in different countries sought to employ him due to his obvious musical genius. Taking a position working for Philip the Handsome (who was Duke of Burgundy and King of Castile), Agricola traveled with the Duke extensively. In 1506, he was in Valladolid when the plague struck, and poor Alexander succumbed to it.
