Units of Measurements for Drilling Rig | Metric System | English System
This Tutorial is design for drilling crew e.g Roustabouts, Floormen and Derrickman etc
In this video I will teach you about the units of measurements for oil and gas drilling rig. Basically there are two main system for measurements
1. Metric System
2. English System
And basically three main quantities which are measured in both system e.g Length, Weight and Capacity.
The Metric System is a system of measurement used in most of the World. It is also called the International System of Units, or SI.
In Metric System the Unit of Length is based on the meter.
In Metric System the Unit of Capacity is based on the liter.
In Metric System the Unit of Weight is based on gram.
The English System uses following Units of Measurement.
In English System the Unit of Length is based on foot.
In English System the Unit of Weight is based on pound.
In English System the Unit of Capacity is based on gallon.
In Metric System the Unit of Length is based on the meter.
1 kilometer = 1000 meter
1 meter = 10 decimeter
1 meter = 100 centimeter
1 meter = 1000 millimeter
In Metric System the Unit of Weight is based on the gram.
1 kilogram = 1000 gram
In Metric System the Unit of Capacity is based on the liter.
1 cubic meter = 1000 liter
In English System the Unit of Length is based on foot.
1 foot = 12 inches
1 yard = 3 feet
1 mile = 1760 yard
In English System the Unit of Weight is based on pound.
1 pound = 16 ounces
In English System the Unit of Capacity is based on gallon.
1 barrel = 5.614 cubic feet
1 cubic foot = 7.48 gallon
1 barrel = 42 gallon
The Length conversion between Metric and English System.
1 meter = 3.281 feet
1 inch = 2.54 centimeter
The Weight conversion between Metric and English System.
1 pound = 453.5924 gram
The Capacity conversion between Metric and English System.
1 gallon = 3.785412 liter
