A sting is caused by a small sharp pointed organ of an insect or scorpion that is capable of inflicting a painful wound by injecting poison. The result is a sharp tingling sensation or hurtful effect. Wasp stings cause the most allergic reactions. One or more stings, over a period of time, may be required from a particular insect to sensitize your immune system and cause an allergic reaction. Twenty percent of people who have experienced an allergic reaction to an insect or bite will have milder or no reaction the next time they have stung or bitten by the same type of insect. Therefore, it is impossible to predict the outcome of the next sting for any individual. If you're sensitized to wasp venom, it's unlikely that you'll suffer the same response to bee venom. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR STING. 1. Indian Birth wort or ( Aristolochia indica Linn.). The paste of the root of indian Birth wort is applied externally to insect bites and stings. 2. Leek or (Allium ampeloprasum). The paste of the leaves are applied to stings and insect bites. 3. Taro or ( Colocasia esculenta). The juice of the corm taken internally acts as laxative, used in cases of piles and as an antidote to the stings of wasps and other insects. 4. Arrowroot or ( Maranta arundinacea). The mashed root may be applied as a plaster or (Poultice) to areas stung or bitten by insects. 5. Cocoloba or ( Muehlenbeckia platyclados). Squeeze out the juice from the fresh stem and leaves and apply this to the sting of a scorpion or the bite of a centipede. 6. Indian Plum ( Zizyphus jujuba).
