Shamus Case II for the Atari 5200 Shamus Case II is a less well known followup to the very popular Shamus for the Atari 8-bit computer. Shamus Case II had a very limited release and was only available on disk. I converted the 32K disk version of Case II to run on the Atari 5200. You can make it into a real cartridge, or play it on the Ultimate SD for the 5200 or the 128-in-1 USB for the 5200. The Ultimate SD for the 5200 is at http://www.atarimax.com/5200sd/ Keyboard controls used on the 8-bit are mapped to the Atari 5200 standard Pause and Start buttons. Option/Select are mapped to Atari 5200 keys #1 and #2. The Pause key pauses the game and also brings up the map screen. Move the joystick in any direction to exit the map/pause screen. Shamus Case II is much different from Shamus in the way its played. A read through of the manual is probably a good idea since this not a straight forward shooter like Shamus. Shamus Case II is also extremely difficult compared to Shamus. Being able to get all the keys and make it to exit with only five lives is pretty hard. Shamus can move right and left but also up and down in the maze. To move up in the maze, Shamus must destroy all the snakes or enemies in each room. To move down Shamus can allow all the floor tiles to be destroyed, or he can just jump down in rooms without floor tiles. The object is to get all the keys, open all the locks, then plant the bomb at the top left of the maze (see the MAP). You then have to survive long enough to exit the maze using all the downward navigation tricks, returning to the room you entered at.
